The concrete is the point. The National Theatre's raw brutalist slabs glow warm at dusk, and the river walk between Waterloo and Blackfriars is one of London's genuinely great stretches — skateboarders beneath the undercroft, booksellers along the wall, the Tate Modern's turbine hall pulling you inside like a gravitational field. Across the water, the city's skyline keeps changing, but the South Bank holds its ground with stubborn, beautiful weight.
