Notre-Dame's reconstruction scaffolding has become its own landmark now, and the flower market on Place Louis-Lepine fills the air with green, damp sweetness. The Conciergerie's medieval towers loom along the quay where fishermen once unloaded. Walking the island's perimeter takes twenty minutes and gives you the Seine from every angle — bridges connecting you to two different banks, two different moods.
