Inside, the paths curve past rose gardens and ponds where herons stand perfectly still. Joggers, cyclists, and people horizontal on the grass establish a gentle rhythm. On King's Day the whole thing transforms into something unrecognizable, but most days it's Amsterdam's collective living room.
