Pikisaari walking loops — tar-trade island of wooden houses

A tiny island connected by bridge, Pikisaari holds wooden houses and tar heritage in an area you can cross in fifteen minutes. The tar history is literal — this is where Oulu's tar trade left its mark, in dark-stained buildings and a specific smell that lingers near the old storage sites. The houses are small and carefully kept. The water surrounds everything. Walking here feels like visiting a paragraph from an older version of the city that someone preserved intact.
