Walking loops in Kadriorg, Tallinn
Peter the Great built the palace for Catherine I, and the park surrounding it has the formal composure of an imperial gift. KUMU, Estonia's main art museum, sits on the park's edge in a curved limestone building that manages to complement rather than compete with its baroque neighbor. The tree-lined avenues are wide and stroller-friendly, and the swan pond reflects the palace facade on still days. Kadriorg is Tallinn's most elegant walk, best in autumn when the oaks turn and the tourists thin.
