Ribeira walking loops — Porto's waterfront cascade

Ribeira tumbles down the hillside to the Douro in a cascade of terracotta and cracked plaster — buildings lean into each other like old friends propping each other up. The Ponte Luís I frames every photo from the waterfront, and the port wine lodges across the river in Gaia catch the afternoon light. Narrow stairways connect levels of the city that no map quite captures, and laundry drying on wrought-iron balconies marks the hours better than any clock.
