Borgo Teresiano is what happens when an empress orders a neighborhood from scratch — Maria Theresa's 18th-century grid plan laid straight streets over reclaimed marshland and filled them with Neoclassical facades. The Canal Grande still reaches into the city center like a smaller, quieter Venice. Piazza Unità d'Italia opens directly onto the Adriatic with no barrier, and the bora wind arrives from the Karst plateau without warning, turning a calm afternoon architectural.
