Castle District walking loops — Buda's hilltop quarter

The funicular hauls you up Castle Hill if your legs object to the stairs, depositing you in a district of Matthias Church's diamond-patterned roof tiles and the Fisherman's Bastion's neo-Romanesque turrets, which are theatrical and photogenic and were always meant to be both. The views across the Danube to Parliament are the kind that make you understand why this city calls itself the Pearl of the Danube without embarrassment.
