Quieter than its neighbor and less reconstructed in feel, Nowe Miasto extends northward along streets where the Marie Curie Museum occupies the house where she was born — two rooms, simply presented, startlingly powerful. The churches here have less foot traffic, and the Vistula viewpoints along the eastern edge show the river's wide, sandy banks. Freta street connects old and new towns with bakeries and bookshops. The neighborhood moves at a walking pace that feels deliberate rather than slow.
