Casco Viejo walking loops — Bilbao's seven medieval streets

Seven streets — Siete Calles — form the medieval core, and they're still the spine of daily life. The Mercado de la Ribera is Europe's largest covered market by floor area, which seems implausible until you're inside it. Pintxos bars line both sides of every street, each with its specialty balanced on the counter. The Guggenheim gets the headlines, but the Casco Viejo is where Bilbao was Bilbao long before titanium curves arrived.
