Walking loops in Pispala, Tampere

You'll feel Pispala in your calves before you see the view. The ridge drops steeply to lakes on both sides, connected by wooden stairways that creak with personality. Houses lean at angles that would worry an engineer but delight everyone else. This has been the painters-and-poets neighborhood for a century, and it shows — every fence is a different color, every garden has its own logic. At the top, two lakes spread out like an argument about which view is better.
