Walking loops in Kulosaari, Helsinki

A small island you could walk across in fifteen minutes, but you won't want to rush. Kulosaari is old money and diplomats, Art Nouveau villas behind hedges, and a canopy of oak and birch that filters the light into something softer than the rest of Helsinki gets. The shoreline paths are quiet even in summer. There's a particular pleasure in walking somewhere this manicured and realizing that the luxury here isn't the houses — it's the silence.
