Walking loops in Meilahti, Helsinki
Most people come to Meilahti for the hospital campus, which sprawls across the hill in that institutional Finnish way — functional, enormous, surrounded by parking. But keep walking west and the landscape shifts entirely. Seurasaari island holds an open-air museum of old Finnish wooden buildings, connected to the mainland by a footbridge. The contrast is the point: clinical modernity on one hill, hand-hewn log churches on the next. The coastal path between them is worth every step.
